At 22 years of age, Nicole Heavirland has a bright future with the USA Eagles Women’s Sevens team. She began playing rugby at 15, instantly having an impact on her high-school team. She continued to succeed at every level, garnering national attention. An aggressive player and strong runner, Heavirland caught the eye of USA Head Coach Richie Walker and earned her debut with the Eagles during the 2015-16 Series. Although she didn’t play during the Olympics, she was able to travel with the team as a reserve, gaining valuable experience. On her time with the squad so far, she says “I’m here to learn and to play and to give it my all.” Expect Heavirland to have an impact on the sport going forward as North American rugby continues to rise.

1. What was was the best thing about playing a tournament in Las Vegas?
When my parents brought me grilled salmon, sweet potatoes, and Brussel sprouts from Whole Foods after day one of games.

Writing out my perfect ice cream sundae that I want after the tournament.

Every time the national anthem plays before a game.

That I can buy Voltaren over the counter
5. HOW WOULD YOU SPEND SATURDAY IF YOU WEREN’T PLAYING RUGBY?
Finding a new coffee shop, biking in sunny San Diego, going to the farmers market
