VOLUNTEER ROLES AVAILABLE
This is the core team in overall event delivery, responsible for ensuring the event is running smoothly back of house. With a variety of different jobs to complete, this role is sure to keep you busy while giving you exposure to the behind the scenes operations at a major international sporting event. This team will also be required to support other volunteer teams and areas when necessary. Volunteers in this role are required to be hardworking, active, adaptive and good at problem solving.
Volunteers in this role are responsible for ensuring the competing rugby sevens teams are happy, comfortable and have everything they need so that they can concentrate on the job at hand – putting on a top-class performance on the field. Jobs include re-supplying water and isotonics, replenishing towels, refilling ice baths/re-stocking ice, cleaning and clearing changing rooms and transporting players and equipment between changing rooms and their team bus. In this role we are looking for personable individuals, who work well in a team, with can-do attitude and who act professionally around elite level athletes.
All volunteers in this role MUST be male due to the close interaction with teams in the changing room areas.
Located on the Level 300 at BC Place stadium, the hospitality suites are where many of our important sponsors and VIP clients will be hosting and enjoying the tournament. These special guests need to be well looked after and volunteers need to personable, excellent at customer service, smartly dressed, cool under pressure and great problem solvers.
Media check-in desk / accreditation pick-up
Greeting and welcoming national and international media including photographers, journalists and team media personnel to the stadium and to our event, checking them in, handing them their accreditation and answering any questions they may have. Volunteers in this team need to be friendly, enthusiastic and well organized.
You will be a key conduit in the sharing and transfer of important information between media, Canada Sevens and World Rugby staff stationed in the media booth. You will be required to help in the general management of the press box, running errands upon request and ensuring everyone in this space has everything they need. We are looking for volunteers who are good communicators, enthusiastic, have a professional work attitude and well organized.
This is a busy and active role so you’ll need to be physically up to the challenge! Stat runners are constantly sharing and relaying important game, team and player statistics between World Rugby statistics collectors, broadcast, the media and Canada Sevens staff. Remember – this is a fast-past tournament with a lot of games and a lot of teams, so there are plenty of stats that need to be shared quickly. This team requires fit, active and energetic individuals.
The Tournament Program is a key item for fans on event day as it contains all of the important and interesting information relating to the tournament and the teams playing. The volunteers in charge will need to be out-going, friendly, happy to engage with fans, and be comfortable handling money.
BC Children’s Hospital 50:50 Sales
The volunteer team in this role are vital in successfully fundraising for our official charity partner – BC Children’s Hospital. You will be paired up with a BC Children’s Hospital fundraising team and will make your way around the stadium to engage with fans and ask them to support this fantastic local cause by making a contribution to the 50:50 program. Friendly, engaging and passionate volunteers are required in this role.
As a world-class sporting event, we have both major international and local partners activating inside and outside of the stadium, engaging with fans over the event weekend. Our sponsors and partners are looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteers to represent and activate their brand and interact with Canada Sevens fans.
